Instant Forms or a Landing Page: Where Should Ad Leads Go?

By Oscar Ortega, Founder4 min read
Use an instant form when you want volume and can call back within minutes; use a landing page when people need more information to decide, or when you need something a form cannot do. Medical practices often run both. Bay Ridge Dermatology runs Meta lead forms for ARTAS hair restoration alongside a standalone ARTAS website, and the lead forms have produced leads since September 2026.

Send ad leads to an instant form when you want volume and can call back within minutes. Send them to a landing page when people need more information to decide, or when you need something a form cannot do, such as booking or a photo upload. Many practices run both. Bay Ridge Dermatology runs Meta lead forms for ARTAS hair restoration alongside a standalone ARTAS site, and the forms have produced leads since September 2026.

This post draws on the Bay Ridge Dermatology case study.

What is the difference?

An instant form opens inside Facebook or Instagram with the person's details prefilled, so submitting takes seconds. A landing page is your own website, so it can say and do more, but every extra step loses some people.

Instant form Landing page
Where it lives Inside Meta's apps Your website
Effort to submit A few taps, details prefilled Typing, page load
Typical intent Lower, more volume Higher, fewer leads
What you can ask Contact details and simple questions; no health or insurance questions Whatever your intake needs, under your own safeguards
What you can show Short text and images Video, reviews, pricing, before-and-after galleries, booking
Where the leads sit On Meta for 90 days, unless sent to a CRM Your own systems

Which instant form type should you choose?

Meta offers three types. More volume, the default, is built to be fast to submit. Higher intent adds a line saying the business may follow up and a review screen where people confirm their details, and it shows only in mobile feeds. Rich creative lets you add images and more text about the offer. For a high-consideration procedure, Higher intent is worth testing against the default.

What can't a medical practice ask in an instant form?

Health or insurance questions. Meta does not allow Instant Forms to ask for health information, such as conditions, treatments, or medications, or insurance details such as carrier or policy number. If a form asks, the ad will not run. Keep the form to contact details and simple preferences, and ask the clinical questions on the call.

What do the ad rules mean for cosmetic offers?

Meta's health and wellness policy restricts ads for cosmetic procedures, including hair restoration surgery, injectables, and laser treatments, to people 18 and over, and within that restriction it allows before-and-after imagery. It prohibits ads that use negative language about someone's appearance or promise specific results in a set time without qualifiers. A separate personal attributes policy bars ads that assert or imply a viewer's medical condition, so "Are you losing your hair?" follows the pattern Meta's examples prohibit, while "Robotic hair restoration, now in Brooklyn" does not.

What changes with tracking on a landing page?

More than with a form. Meta classifies some advertisers as health and wellness, and may restrict the data their websites can send back, from stripping URL details to blocking certain conversion events. Its business tools terms also bar sending health information through its pixel and other business tools. For HIPAA-regulated practices, HHS's tracking guidance still says tracking on logged-in pages generally has access to protected health information, and that pages used to book appointments may too; a 2024 court ruling vacated only the part covering visits to public pages about health conditions or providers. A landing page gives you more control and more responsibility.

What about Google?

Google is simpler: its lead form rules do not allow healthcare-related ads to use lead forms, so Google ad leads for a medical practice usually go to a landing page. RadiusDocs, a medical records platform Cream Digital built and markets, sends its Google ads to a dedicated landing page, described in the RadiusDocs case study.

How do you get better leads out of forms?

Three habits make the biggest difference:

  1. Send leads to a CRM immediately. Leads expire from Meta after 90 days, and nobody should be downloading spreadsheets.
  2. Tell Meta which leads became patients. Meta's qualified leads goal optimizes for leads that convert, and since April 2026 new campaigns need a Conversions API connection to use it.
  3. Call back in minutes. A form lead was on their phone a moment ago. Every hour lowers the odds of reaching them, as covered in why the first hour decides who wins the lead.

Bay Ridge's website also does something no form can: visitors upload a photo and get an AI skin analysis with a before-and-after preview. Pick the form for speed, the page for depth, and connect both to the same follow-up. That is how Cream Digital sets up lead generation operations for practices.

Key facts

Frequently asked questions

Do instant forms produce worse leads?

Often lower intent, because submitting takes two taps and the details are prefilled. That is a trade, not a flaw: you get more leads and must qualify them fast. Meta's Higher intent form type adds a review step that filters out some casual submissions.

Can a medical practice ask about symptoms in a Meta lead form?

No. Meta does not allow Instant Forms to ask for health information, such as conditions or treatments, or for insurance information. Ask those questions on the call, or on your own website under your own privacy safeguards.

Can we use before-and-after photos in ads?

For cosmetic procedures on Meta, yes, if the ad is restricted to people 18 and over. Meta still prohibits ads that attack someone's appearance or promise specific results in a set time without qualifiers. Other platforms and professional rules may be stricter.

How fast should we call an instant form lead?

Within minutes if you can. The person was on their phone when they submitted, and every hour of delay lowers the chance of reaching them.
